My Honest Anua Heartleaf 80% Soothing Ampoule Review
How is it the end of September already? Time is just flying by, but I’m secretly excited for sweater season. What’s everyone’s favourite cozy sweater color? :)
With the cold weather rolling in, I’ve been really eager to try out the new Anua Heartleaf 80% Moisture Soothing Ampoule. Heartleaf extract is known for its soothing properties as well as anti-aging and anti-acne benefits (MDPI, 2022 study), and with it being one of Anua’s top sellers in Korea, my hopes were high! Spoiler though this did not make it into my all time favourite skincare products list.
Let’s get into the review!
Anua Heartleaf 80% Soothing Ampoule - Quick Facts:
Formulation: cruelty- free, fragrance-free, paraben-free
Scent: very light herbal scent
Texture: almost a soft gel-like liquid that absorbs into the skin quite quickly
Price: $37 CAD
Where to buy: Dewbeauty.ca (based in Vancouver, BC)
Main pros: I personally have very sensitive skin - so I’ve really seen the soothing benefits of the Heartleaf extract in the past couple weeks of trying this out. It’s helped calmed a bit of the rosacea on my cheeks. Since it also contains Panthenol - that’s also supposed to help moisturize and strengthen the skin barrier over time.
The texture is also really enjoyable to use - it’s lightweight, slightly more viscous but totally non-sticky. It glides over the skin with a slightly cooling sensation and absorbs really well. I still need a moisturizer to layer on top, but I imagine if you have normal to oily skin you likely won’t need to.
Cons: I don’t think you can go wrong with this product unless you’re looking for something to tackle acne or fine lines/wrinkles. Although heartleaf does have some anti-acne and anti-aging properties, it’s still primarily a soothing/moisturizing product!
Anua Heartleaf 80% Moisture Soothing Ampoule Ingredients:
Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Betaine, Cassia Obtusifolia Seed Extract, Panthenol, Hydroxyethyl Cellulose, Sodium Hyaluronate, Arginine, Carbomer, Ethylhexylglycerin
The pipette drops just the right amount of product for a full face application of the ampoule
Anua Heartleaf Ampoule texture - you can see it's kind of more viscous - but don't worry it's not sticky at all
How To Use This Ampoule:
Cleanse skin, tone as usual
Use after toner in AM and PM routine daily (I’m lazy so I only cleanse, tone and use this in the evenings)
Smooth ampoule over face and neck, wait a few seconds for absorption and apply your moisturizer to seal everything in
Difference Between Ampoules vs Serums:
Essentially, ampoules are kind of like the more concentrated version of serums with less ingredients overall but more of a particular active ingredient. Ie - that’s why there is 80% Houttuynia Cordata Extract aka Heartleaf in here!
Summing Up:
Overall, this popular kbeauty favourite did not disappoint! I can see why it’s been the rave on social media. It’s really a very simply formulated but beautiful product that can deliver results. Highly recommend you try it out for about a week or so if you need to soothe irritated skin, tackle redness, or just want a gentle ampoule to layer into your routine.
