Preparing for your big day!

Here is a here is a handy checklist for the bride and bridal party members prior to the big morning of

Logistics:

  • Confirm the schedule with your vendors: venue, caterer, florist, photographer and your makeup artist

  • Ensure everyone knows who the go-to person is and their contact info

  • Ensure all necessary items are packed (rings & marriage license)

  • Confirm with the hotel/venue to prepare 2 high chairs for the getting-ready room

  • Send Tiana the room number and last name of the hotel booking so we can come up directly to the room in the AM

Your bridal skin & hair prep:

  • The day before: Drink plenty of lukewarm/warm water to stay hydrated. Limit your intake of alcohol, caffeine and very salty foods. This will dehydrate your skin, cause bloating, and affect your sleep. Have a light, healthy dinner, followed by a light walk if possible (this will help you destress + sleep). Some brides get really really excited the night before and end up not being able to sleep much at all! During the day today you can feel free to put on any hydrating masks or brightening sheet masks.

  • The night before: Please wash and dry hair the night before styling service (not morning of, since the hair needs to be dry prior to using hot tools). Blow drying the hair upside down first helps with volume, then finish off blowing from top down to smooth the hair shaft to prevent frizziness.

  • The night before: Cleanse the skin with a light chemical exfoliating cleanser the night before (optional, only if you have one that you already like and used before **Do NOT use new skincare products the night before** ), use a good quality hydrating toner - NOT AN ALCOHOL BASED TONER!! MUST BE CALMING & HYDRATING! (pat in at least 3-5 layers), add on your serum and moisturize well. When you’re moisturizing, Don’t neglect your lips, eyebrow area, elbows, knees, and hands.

  • The morning of: Cleanse with lukewarm water only, pat in 3-5 layers of your calming and hydrating toner. This will really be hydrating deep within the skin. Do not top off with any additional moisturizers or SPF. Do not put on face sheet masks.

  • Please avoid getting your hairline wet in the AM because it will be harder to style if there’s product in it, or if it’s wet.

I have some skincare products I personally like listed here for recommendations, but everyone’s skin is different so definitely go with what works for you. Definitely if you are going to try new products, always patch test first, check if you’re allergic to anything, and have a routine in place at least a couple weeks prior to the big day! Makeup can help with enhancing your features and colors but it will not get rid of texture in the skin, so proper skincare is a big component!
