My Honest Abib Heartleaf Toner Review (and Alternative)
With Abib and Anua being such popular brands for their heartleaf products - I had to do a comparison! Now, I really liked the Anua brand Heartleaf ampoule (review here), so you can probably actually skip this review and read that one, or the one for the Anua toner pads (review here), because those are what I’d recommend over the Abib toner.
If you love reading ;) or just are still curious about the Abib toner though, let’s get into the details below!
Abib Heartleaf Calming Toner - Quick Facts:
Formulation: cruelty- free, fragrance-free, paraben-free
Scent: nearly undetectable herbal scent
Texture: a very thin watery toner
Price: $31
Where to buy: Dewbeauty.ca (based in Vancouver, BC)
Main pros: The Abib toner ingredients list compared to Anua’s 77% Soothing Toner is actually shorter, hence why I decided to try it. However! (See below)
Cons: If you take a look at the ingredients list down below, you’ll find that the first ingredient is actually water (compared to the Anua one - almost the same price - which starts off with 77% Heartleaf aka Houttuynia Cordata Extract). That would likely explain why this toner is so watery and I haven’t really seen much of an effect from using it.
Abib Heartleaf Calming Toner Skin Booster Ingredients:
Water, Houttuynia Cordata Extract, Glycerin, Butylene Glycol, Pentylene Glycol, Xylitol, Bifida Ferment Lysate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract, Gaultheria Procumbens (Wintergreen) Leaf Extract, Lonicera Japonica (Honeysuckle) Flower Extract, Betaine, 1,2-Hexanediol, Panthenol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Octanediol, Tocopherol, Biosaccharide Gum-4, Disodium EDTA, Xanthan Gum
My attempt to show you how thin the toner is - but it obvs drops way too quickly onto the cotton pad lol
Here you can kind of see the very thin watery texture of the Abib toner
How To Use The Heartleaf Toner:
Cleanse the skin
Soak the toner into a cotton pad and apply to face, or
Directly apply product on your face using your hands and gently pat it in
Use AM or PM routine daily
Layer on ampoule, serum and moisturizer as usual
Summing Up:
As other reviews have also mentioned online, I didn’t notice much of a difference in my skin after using this toner. While it felt lightweight and absorbed quickly, I didn’t really feel any of the calming effects. It felt like I was just patting water in my face. Hence, I’m recommending the anua brand products mentioned above.
