Pyunkang Yul Review [and Where to Buy Pyunkang Yul In Canada]

Hi lovelies!

I hope you’ve all been super well and keeping warm and cozy.

Today I’ll be sharing where you’ll be able to find Pyunkang Yul products in Canada, along with my haul and a review on my shopping experience with a Montreal based kbeauty online retailer named Esmea, (in short, Esmea had really fast shipping times - even to BC, and my order came perfectly in tact with a couple samples as well)!

Let’s dive into the details!

What are the benefits of Pyunkang Yul skincare?

Pyunkang Yul is developed by Pyunkang Oriental Medicine Clinic in Korea, known for treating atopic skin diseases. With 40+ years of experience and research, they focus on delivering products that are very minimal.

Every ingredient used by Pyunkang Yul is said to be selected because it is gentle and safe for the skin. No ingredients are used for adding scents - so I really appreciate that.

Their toner is one of their best selling items, and I also needed a new moisturizer for the Canadian wintertime, so that’s what I’ll be reviewing today!

Pyunkang Yul Toner with

Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner Quick Facts:

About: This essence toner contains over 91% of Milk Vetch Root Extract which contains betaine and minerals for hydration with excellent absorption. It is supposed to improve skin elasticity, improve the skin barrier, reduce inflammation, help collagen production and is non-irritating for sensitive skin.

Formulation: Fragrance-free, Dye-free, Alcohol-free, Paraben-free, Cruelty-free

Potential irritants: Since the toner is made up of mostly milk vetch/astralagus root extract, so I’d spot test it just in case you might have any kind of plant allergies. It also has silane - a silicone derivative, so I’d avoid if your skin is sensitive to silicones.

Scent: Very light herbal-ly scent

Texture: Watery with some viscosity to it!

Price: $15.99 CAD

Where to purchase: Esmea.ca

Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner Benefits:

I typically use this in the mornings after rinsing my face with water, and after I do my double cleansing routine at night. It’s great for picking up any leftover bits of makeup and cleansing/balancing the skin. It feels very hydrating and leaves my skin very glowy! I usually am very sensitive to astringent toners and have very thin skin on my cheeks and this did not irritate my skin at all. Sometimes I will pat in a second layer to hydrate the skin even more and this sinks in pretty quickly. I’ll be repurchasing this as a staple toner for the colder months!

Cons:

If you have oily skin, and/or are prone to CC or (closed comedones), this may break you out. I haven’t experienced this in the past two weeks of using this but I think this is a concern due to the silane. I’ve seen on Reddit that this toner has been hit or miss for a lot of people.

If this does not irritate you though, it is a really good soothing product to layer on if you’re ever having a tough time with your skin. It has a very simple ingredients list and has enough hydration/anti-inflammatory properties to just use on its own to give your skin a break when needed.

Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream benefits: For my combo skin this is a just-right moisturizing cream (although for canadian winters specifically, this is not enough moisture). It’s very smooth and sinks right into the skin. Some reviews online have mentioned that this cream does nothing, but I personally love do nothing creams haha. My skin gets very sensitive and fussy sometimes so I really love my simple, basic, sensitive skin friendly moisturizers!

Cons: I have read online that shea butter is a no-go for oily skin/acne prone skin and there’s been one or two reviews that mentioned this broke them out. Currently, my skin is super dry because it’s winter, so I haven’t experienced any breakouts. But I’d just avoid this if you’re acne prone or have oily skin.

Where To Buy Pyunkang Yul In Canada

For online options, I personally purchased the Pyunkang Yul Moisture Cream as well the Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner from esmea.ca, you can also check out StyleVana and YesStyle, but they usually take about 3-4 weeks+ for shipping and you may have to pay duties.

Some other places you might find Pyunkang Yul are select T&Ts in Canada or other korean beauty shops. I go over more physical kbeauty store locations by city in this post here.

Since Esmea is based out of Montreal, I expected around a week or so for shipping but actually got my order in the mail in around 4 business days! So fast, and it was pretty secure because it was fulfilled by Canada Post (which delivers to a locked mailbox for me)!

I’ll update my reviews on the rest of my haul a bit later on!

Best,

Tiana
